Aeon PW
All

It has been a good run with Aeon, but all things run their course and come to an end. I have watched Aeon slowly grow then die off as people moved onto other interests or found worlds that appeal to them more. Instead of leaving the server up and running empty, I have decided to turn off the server and close the player portion of the forums.

I would like to thank those that have put in their time and effort, either as DM's, builders or players. Without your efforts a world can not exist or grow into something more than a concept.

So what next, for me I am not sure, perhaps I shall learn something else perhaps not. I do know my power bill will be smaller next month, so out of sad endings a positive comes.

Goodbye and Goodluck.

Saving skill points? Empty
PostSubject: Saving skill points?   Saving skill points? EmptyMon Aug 17, 2009 8:55 am

Ive been blessed with the absense of planning and foresite, Ive currently branched out too much with skill points, and there are a lot of skills ive found my character (now that ive figured out their niche) isn't just going to use (plus they only have 5 points in em) and the skills they are going to use, they will just suck hard at, I was wondering, if its alright to save points up from my sorcerer class skill points (of which i use 2 out of the 4 points in class skills) and use them when I next level up rogue, which will be a few levels away, so i can actually level up 1 or 2 skills to usefulness. I know its actually possible in the game, but is it okay for Aeon?

Cheers

I have no issues at this stage, exploitation etc will change that opinion of course.

Personally if character builds don't have a negative impact on other people's experiences, then it doesn't make too much difference to me either. The level requirements fix a lot of the issues with the class builds and at least if you havea reasonable mix of classes if you are multiclassed, then the skills aren't too much of an issue. At least though you aren't a cleric who has about 6 specialised skills only to choose from which makes it almost a no brainer in what you are going to pick Very Happy.

Exploitation is not good. An example?

I would think hoarding skill points for a good few levels (as a single class) then taking a PRC/another class and dumping everything in one skill area such as UMD or tumble. Now thats not on.

If youre already multiclassed and juggling between the levels to avoid wasting skill points in things you're character will never use or wants to use. Is fine.

UMD is a classic example. Taking levels like rogue to bump up skills points, haording and then flooding your desired skill when it becomes a class one at no penalty. Hard to police but the effort versus return of me putting in scripts to prevent this is not worth the effort. Ultimately if people want to do this and a get a warm glow by 'beating the system' power to them.

So Jam, not an issue really but it is something I watch behind the scenes via databases when I get the urge on.
